Sky Sports have today revealed that Huddersfield Town are in advanced talks with 22-year-old Montpellier winger Isaac Mbenza. The wideman looks set to sign for David Wagner's men for a fee believed to be in the region of £13.5 million. In this article we give you the lowdown on Town's latest signing.
Standing at 6ft2', Mbenza is a commanding presence on both wings, behind the striker or occasionally up front. In what will be music to Town fans ears, the 22-year-old attacks defenders with pacy direct running and likes to whip in early crosses - perhaps the complete opposite of Rajiv Van La Parra.
In the final third of the pitch, Mbenza often drifts inside, occupying the space between the full-back and centre-back. Mbenza managed 10 league goals for Montpellier last season from this position, showcasing his impressive finishing.
First time curled shots into the corner of the goal seem to be Mbenza's signature goal style, something that has led to premature comparisons with Thierry Henry.
